The Town of Wainwright is seeking a qualified and highly motivated individual for the full-time management position of Health & Safety Coordinator. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, this position is responsible for promoting a strong, positive safety culture based on continuous improvement.

The Health & Safety Coordinator will coordinate and advance the health and safety program for the Town of Wainwright in accordance with the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations.  The Coordinator will conduct facility inspections, safety meetings and emergency response drills for all Town departments on a regular frequency.  Development and delivery of education sessions will be required, as well as enforcement of the Safety Manual, Policies and Procedures.  This individual will work towards and maintain COR registration.

The successful candidate must possess in-depth knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Management Systems.  A two-year diploma or university certification program in OH&S is preferred, as well as certification as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) and/or certified auditor.  This individual should possess at least five years of safety experience, including supervisory duties, in developing and managing health and safety related programs, processes and functions. The candidate must have strong verbal and written communication skills, be able to work well with others, yet also be organized and motivated to work independently.  Knowledge of municipal government operations is considered an asset.  The complete job description can be found at www.wainwright.ca.
